At Shorepower, we believe safety is the number one priority when it comes to the marine environment. Especially important when an electrical installation is involved. Whilst having safe and reliable systems in place, this also involves ensuring your electrical installation is safe and reliable too. This should be inspected and tested regularly by trained, component and licenced electrical professionals. Shorepower provides the necessary tools and experienced personnel to ensure compliance and safety on your vessel is up to date.
Ensuring compliance is not just about ticking boxes, it is about your vessels and more importantly yours, your crew and your passenger’s safety whilst on-board. Shorepower provides AMSA accredited electrical surveyors at the following stages:
- Initial planning
- Initial Survey
- Periodic Survey
Fully accredited with AMSA and Electrically Licensed, our surveyors have many years’ experience in assisting with vessels compliance and offer advice and planning to ensure your vessel remains electrically compliant.
On too many occasions, a vessel can look very appealing from the outside, however dig a little bit deeper and it can hide some very nasty and even dangerous surprises. Whilst many inspections can identify hull, mechanical or structural damages, having an electrical professional inspect before you make the decision to purchase can identify electrical problems that a mechanic or shipwright may miss. These can potentially be catastrophic and very expensive to rectify if not identified prior to the purchase.
Shorepower provides pre-inspections on marine electrical systems and installations and provides the prospective buyer a report on their findings. This can be very useful and potentially save the buyer huge expenses in the future. As an added option, Shorepower can also conduct electrical checks and tests and provide the buyer with an electrical safety certificate if the vessel is to AS standards. This certificate assures the buyer that the installation on-board is safe at the time of inspection. We strongly believe this is imperative – in fact we believe it should be legal. Don’t risk the safety of anyone on-board to assumptions or what others cannot check.
Shorepower provides regular inspections and safety checks for any vessel whether private or commercial. These are done at pre-determined periods and ensure the vessel is safe and complaint to the relevant standards and regulations. Commercial (DCV) vessels are conducted at periodic survey times (or more regularly if required), whilst private vessels are inspected at the owners request. Shorepower recommends as a minimum that all private vessels be inspected prior to each season commencing. This can identify if any changes have been made since the last inspection and whether the vessel is electrically safe and compliant to use. Over the off season, water or foreign material can ingress in panels, outlets and wiring systems or mechanical damage to electrical systems or wiring can occur without the owner knowing and potentially cause catastrophic situation.
As part of the audit, Shorepower conducts electrical checks and tests and provides the client with an electrical safety certificate if the vessel is to AS standards. This certificate assures the client that the installation on-board is safe at the time of inspection. As with pre-purchase inspections, we strongly believe this inspection is imperative. Don’t risk the safety of anyone on-board to assumptions or what others cannot check.
